Last week in Lisbon an international meeting of the partners in the Summer Sessions network took place. Members of Metamedia Association, Marino Jurcan and Marko Kalčić joined the meeting together with other representatives from the partner organizations (Boris Debackere and Jan Misker – V2 – Lab for the Unstable Media – the Netherlands, Sara Orsi – Arquivo 237 – Portugal, Zane Cerpina, PNEK – Norway). During the meeting (10th of December), we discussed the possible trajectories for the future development of the artist residencies and the possibilities for project applications.
The Summer Sessions are short-term, international residencies for emerging artists that are organized by a network of cultural organizations all over the world. During the program artists work in a highly productive atmosphere in which continuous support, feedback and expert supervision is offered. The result is a pressure cooker in which they develop a project from concept to presentable work.
In 2016, Metamedia sponsored video artist Vida Guzmić from Zagreb to work for several weeks in Rotterdam, and hosted an interdisciplinary artist from The Hague, Philip Vermeulen.
