As part of the Summer Sessions Residency, young artist Noa Silver Veldhuijsen will present his artwork “Sound, a tributary of Touch” on Friday, 29th September at 8 pm in the HUIU Gallery in Pula. This is an interactive live performance in which the artist and the audience create communication through touch.
Within the Mp3 platform, every year Metamedia Association invites one artists on a short and intensive artistic residence Summer Sessions, during which the selected artist has the opportunity to develop its own art project in close collaboration with the platform’s members and associates.
This year the artist in residence is Noa Silver Veldhuijsen, a 23-years-old interdisciplinary artist who works in the field of new media art. Born in the Netherlands, based in Rotterdam. He graduated from the WdKa with a major in Fine Arts and a minor in Hacking.

Synthesis:
“The combination of components or elements to form a connected whole.”
In western society we base the majority of our communication on linguistics. We rarely use physical interaction as a way of communicating, except with those closest to us. Amongst strangers, and often even friends and family, we tend to reserve our personal bubble and limit our physical interaction; we have created barriers around ourselves even though there is a deep-rooted human desire for physical interaction and acknowledgement. Digital communication has further strengthened this barrier by limiting our interaction to communication via digital screens.
Sounds, a tributary of Touch, showcases a playful alternate to our form of communication by creating a balance between sound and touch. It uses electronics to generate synthesis between the senses. Generating musical elements that replace the auditive spectrum we normally associate with linguistic communication. It is an intimate interactive performance between artist and audience. Let’s synthesise the music of our skin.
This project is produced as part of the Summer Sessions Network for Talent Development in a co-production of Metamedia Association and V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media.
